Cognitive Carnival – An Educational Fest

The Department of Psychology, SNDT Women’s University, Churchgate, organized Cognitive Carnival – An Educational Fest on 28th February, 2025 at the Quadrangle. The event included stalls set up by the students of M. A. Psychology Part 1 and 2 students as well as a singing performance by them. The day commenced at 11:30 am, inaugurated by Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar, the Registrar, in the presence of Dr. Nitin S. Prabhutendolkar, Head of the Dept. of Student Development who provided the accommodation and facilities for the program, Dr. Sunil Ramteke Head of Department of Marathi, Dr. Nilesh Thakre, Head of Dept. of Psychology, faculty members of the department and students. Ms. Takreem Malick presented a delightful introduction to set the agenda of the event and self-introductions from each of the stall organizers followed. A wide range of products and services were offered where M. A. Part 1 students Bushra Ansari and Rutusha Sawarkar set up a stall selling crochet accessories, bookmarks and customized calligraphy. Khushi Jain, Samruddhi Pawaskar and Trishila Gaikwad set up stalls for Graphology, handmade jewellery and crochet earrings respectively.
M. A. Part 2 students had a crochet and mehndi stall by Maryam Khan and Baswati, an art stall by Pranjal Mohite, sticker stall by Namrata and Tulsi, phone charms stall by Jasmine, customized art and dry fruit stall by Kinnari Mehta and a candle stall by Keshavi Saini.
Feeding hungry customers, food stills were set up by the students. Tasneem Ansari set up a stall for chat, bread rolls and sherbet while Nirmiti Dhoke offered veg cutlet and kokum sherbet. Priyanshi, Aadya and Yogita from M. A. Part 1 as well as Aayat, Mulisha, Sofia, Nidhi, Smita, Shagufta and Faiza from M. A. Part 2 brought international flavours to the table with their stalls serving nachos with flavourful sauces and veggies to accompany. Maryam Khan and Shagufta set up a stall selling cakes for everyone with a sweet tooth. The stalls weren’t all products and food as a stall was set up by M. A. Part 2 students where anyone and everyone could play fun games such as life sized Xs and Os, Snakes and Ladders and more. To uplift the mood of the event, an open mic was offered where a heartwarming poem was recited by MA- Part 2 student Maya Kalyankar, who spoke of the essence of Love.
At 1:30 pm, a group consisting of M. A. Part 1 as well as Part 2 students performed a mellifluous medley of songs that saw the audience engage and sing along wholeheartedly. A photo booth set up by the students saw not just students but also faculty members getting their pictures clicked with it. Faculty members visited each stall, interacted with the students and showed great interest in everything on display. The event concluded officially at 4 pm after which students danced to tunes in joy of a successful event. The event thus provided a venture into small level entrepreneurship and new experiences for the students to carry forward in their future endeavours.
