The collection of the BMK-Knowledge Resource Centre is particularly strong in the social sciences, Gandhiana, women’s studies, arts, literature, nursing, education and library & information science. The BMK-KRC Pune Branch has a rich and varied collection of materials in home science, education, geography and Marathi, while the BMK-KRC Juhu Branch’s special strengths are its collection in food science & nutrition, human development, computer sciences, family resource management, special education technology, apparel manufacture & design, etc.
BMK-Knowledge Resource Centre follows Dewey Decimal Classification System for classification of books and organizing the collection on the shelf. Some of the major class numbers used are labeled on the stacks.

The BMK-Knowledge Resource Centre and the School have jointly handled several consultancy projects. These range from the planning and design of libraries (of schools, technical institutes, professional organizations), indexing of newspapers (Times of India) and journals [Marg], evaluating libraries, to developing a plan for the Learning Resources Utilization Centre at the Government Polytechnic, Mumbai, under the World Bank project, developing a gender studies gateway, a digital library on women and reproductive health, and a web site for library information for the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. They have also developed several database structures for the organization of information (including databases of Government Resolutions and files for the Government of Maharashtra’s Earthquake Relief Documentation Project ) created thesauri for indexing, and conducted training programs for librarians, NGOs and faculty.
This unique facility within the BMK-KRC Juhu Branch is set up to serve as a Laboratory for students of Child Development and Special Education. It aims to promote reading among children and to examine the role of books and reading on the development of the child. Resources include children’s books, a picture collection, cassettes and charts. Current reading, lending, reference and storytelling services are provided. Annual summer activities aimed at developing creative and enquiry skills among children are organized.

Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Gandhinagar is an Autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of University Grants Commission, New Delhi (Ministry of Education, Govt. of India). It is a major National Programme initiated by the UGC in March 1991 as a project under the IUCAA, it became an independent Inter-University Centre in June 1996. INFLIBNET is involved in modernizing university libraries in India using the state-of-art technologies for the optimum utilisation of information. INFLIBNET is set out to be a major player in promoting scholarly communication among academicians and researchers in India.

VIDWAN is the premier database of profiles of scientists / researchers and other faculty members working at leading academic institutions and other R & D organisation involved in teaching and research in India. It provides important information about expert’s background, contact address, experience, scholarly publications, skills and accomplishments, researcher identity, etc. The database developed and maintained by Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) with financial support from the National Mission on Education through ICT (NME-ICT). The database would be instrumental in selection of panels of experts for various committees, taskforce, established by the Ministries / Govt. establishments for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
